Have You Considered Other Photography Opportunities for Your Wedding? – Laura Seymour Violin

When talking to clients, many have already chosen a photographer and/or videographer. However, there are some other fun and unique opportunities for capturing moments at your wedding that you might want to consider.

Photo-Booth:

Photo booths come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. From mirrors to frames and even 360-degree photo stations, photo booths can be a lot of fun!

They’re a great way to add a playful touch to your wedding, with props like hearts, chalkboards, fake mustaches, Mr & Mrs signs, big glasses, and picture frames. Your guests will love playing with the props, and you’ll get some truly fun, memorable images. Plus, your guests get to keep a copy of their photos!

With a professional photo booth, you can rest assured that even the most ridiculous shots will be of great quality.

Photo booths also make excellent ice-breakers. If guests don’t know each other well, they’ll be encouraged to step in front of the camera, act silly, and enjoy themselves—what better way to bond than through some goofy photos?

Is It a Good Idea to Have a Photo Booth?

Photo booths are fun for everyone involved—whether it’s the little ones or the adults, everyone gets involved and has a blast with the props and the photos.

While it can be difficult for your official photographer to capture every single guest, a photo booth gives your guests a chance to step into the spotlight on their own. It’s a great way to get candid pictures of the people you care about without taking everything too seriously.

It’s also a fantastic way to capture fun memories of your wedding day, with everyone giggling and enjoying the moment.

What Are the Disadvantages of a Photo Booth?

One downside of closed air photo booths is that they tend to need more space than open-air options, so you might want to consider an open-air setup to save on space.

If you’re having a themed wedding, a photo booth can be a great addition with props that fit your theme, making your wedding even more personal and unique.

Disposable Cameras:

If you love candid photos and want some truly authentic snapshots of your wedding day, consider placing a few disposable cameras on the tables for your guests to use.

Your guests will create unique photos, capturing moments that your photographer might have missed—often at times when they’re not actively working. Disposable cameras can actually double as table decorations. These days, you don’t have to settle for the old cardboard cameras; you can often find vintage film cameras for a bargain. When I got married, I hit car boot sales and found plenty of cool old cameras for under £20.

Guests often enjoy playing with these old-fashioned cameras too, making it even more fun!

The photo booth is great for entertainment, but disposable cameras let people snap away throughout the day, capturing those hilarious or heartwarming moments that the photographer might not have been around to catch. There's something special about sending the film off to be developed and receiving the physical pictures back, like in the old days. You could even wait until your first anniversary to develop them as a fun surprise!

What Are the Disadvantages of Disposable Cameras?

There are a few downsides to disposable cameras. They have a limited number of photos they can take, and once the film is used up, that’s it.

While they’re great for fun and nostalgia, the picture quality will likely be lower than digital photos. The images may not be as sharp or clear as those taken with a professional camera.

Disposable cameras also give guests the freedom to take pictures without feeling awkward in front of a professional photographer, which can be especially helpful for guests who feel camera-shy. Sometimes people are more comfortable snapping photos with disposable cameras than posing for the official photographer, which results in more relaxed, natural shots.

Polaroid Cameras:

Polaroids have also become very popular at weddings. These instant prints are great for guests to leave behind in a photo guest book. You can ask guests to take a photo and then sign it with a message, creating a unique keepsake from your special day.

I hope this has given you some fun ideas for adding candid moments to your wedding day!

So, what will you choose for those spontaneous photos on your wedding day?
