As a professional violinist, I am delighted to offer my musical services for weddings and events around the world.

Whether you envision a sunset ceremony on a secluded beach or an intimate celebration in a Tuscan vineyard, performing abroad brings an air of elegance and exclusivity to your special day.

However, planning an international performance requires careful consideration.

Here’s a guide to help you understand what to expect and how to prepare.

1. Travel Costs and Planning

When organising an event abroad, travel expenses are an important factor to consider. While I can provide an estimated quote for flights, exact fares may vary based on timing and availability. As a general guide, round-trip flights with my violin typically start at around £500, though this can fluctuate.

Flight Details: Many airlines, including British Airways and EasyJet, have specific policies regarding musical instruments. Violins are generally permitted as carry-on luggage if they meet the airline’s size requirements, but it is always advisable to check the latest regulations before booking.

2. Accommodation and Transportation

Ensuring comfortable and convenient accommodation is essential for a smooth performance experience. If your venue provides overnight stays, I will be delighted to stay on-site. If not, I will arrange nearby accommodation, and this will be factored into the overall cost.

Additionally, organising transportation from the airport to the venue is key. Please confirm whether transfers will be arranged or if alternative transport, such as taxis, will be required.

3. Performance Schedule

To create an effortless and elegant musical experience, it’s helpful to have a clear performance schedule.

Here are some key questions to consider:

  • Which parts of the event would you like me to perform at? Popular options include:

    • A welcome reception or intimate dinner on the first evening

    • The wedding ceremony and drinks reception

    • A relaxed brunch or poolside gathering the following day

  • What are the timings? Providing approximate start times for key moments such as the ceremony and reception allows me to curate the perfect musical selection. As a guideline, I typically recommend around eight pieces per half-hour of performance.

4. Personal Touches

I love to tailor my performance to reflect your personal style and wedding theme. If you have a particular colour scheme, I am happy to coordinate my attire to complement your aesthetic.

For example, if your palette features soft blush and gold tones, I will select elegant attire that harmonises beautifully with your setting.

5. Flexibility and Contingency Plans

Flexibility is key when planning an event abroad, especially when considering factors such as weather. If your ceremony or reception is outdoors, it’s always wise to have a contingency plan in place—whether that be a covered area or an indoor alternative—to ensure the music continues seamlessly.

Conclusion

Performing internationally is a truly magical experience, enhancing your wedding or event with an air of sophistication and charm. By considering travel arrangements, accommodations, performance schedules, and personal touches, we can create an unforgettable musical experience tailored to your vision.

If you’re planning a destination wedding or event and would like to discuss further, I’d be delighted to assist.

I look forward to bringing my music to your celebration, wherever it may be.
