Music to Walk Down the Aisle To: Timeless, Modern or Something Completely You?

There’s a unique kind of magic in that one moment, the hush before the music starts, the anticipation rising, the doors opening, and the first notes playing as you walk towards the person you love. It’s one of the most emotional parts of the day, and your aisle music sets the tone for everything that follows.
But what should you walk down the aisle to?
As a professional violinist who has performed at hundreds of weddings, I know just how personal and powerful this decision can be. Here’s a little inspiration to help you find your perfect aisle soundtrack, whether you’re drawn to timeless tradition, romantic modernity, or a bespoke arrangement that’s completely unique.
💍 1. The Timeless Classics
You can’t go wrong with a piece that’s stood the test of time. There’s a reason couples still choose:
Pachelbel’s Canon in D – serene, romantic, and instantly recognisable.
Ave Maria (Schubert or Bach/Gounod) – ethereal and reverent.
Clair de Lune (Debussy) – soft and poetic, like floating on a cloud.
Classical pieces like these bring elegance and grace to traditional church ceremonies or stately venues, and sound utterly beautiful on solo violin.
🎶 2. Modern Love Songs (With a Twist)
Want something romantic, but with a more contemporary vibe? Many couples choose instrumental versions of modern love songs, beautifully arranged for violin with or without backing tracks.
Popular choices include:
“A Thousand Years” – Christina Perri
“All of Me” – John Legend
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” – Elvis / Kina Grannis version
“Perfect” – Ed Sheeran
“Turning Page” – Sleeping at Last
Hearing these heartfelt melodies played live brings a depth of emotion that recordings simply can’t match.

✨ 3. Something Personal (A Bespoke Arrangement)
If you have a special song, maybe it’s your song as a couple, or a melody that connects you to a loved one, I can create a bespoke violin arrangement just for your ceremony.
It could be:
A soundtrack from your favourite film
A lesser-known indie track
A cultural or religious melody
A surprise tribute for someone special
This is where your aisle moment becomes uniquely yours, and it’s one of my favourite ways to help couples personalise their wedding day.
🎻 So, What Should You Choose?
There’s no right or wrong answer. Your aisle music should reflect the emotion you want to feel and the message you want to share. My role is to help you find that perfect piece, and to bring it to life with beauty and precision on your wedding day.
