As a professional wedding violinist performing across the South West of the UK—from the rolling hills of the Cotswolds to the coastlines of Cornwall—I've had the joy of soundtracking some truly magical love stories. But every now and then, there’s a little extra magic when a four-legged friend joins the celebration.

Meet Luna Moon—my gentle, music-loving Siberian Husky. She’s calm, elegant, and often accompanies me behind the scenes when I perform at weddings and proposals in pet-friendly venues. And it got me thinking: so many couples feel their pup is part of the family, so why not include them in one of the most meaningful days of your life?

Here’s everything you need to know about including your dog in your wedding day—whether that’s at a countryside estate, a romantic garden ceremony, or one of the many beautiful venues I perform at across Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Devon, and beyond.

Furry + One? Here's How to Involve Your Dog in Your Wedding

1. Choose the Right Role for Your Dog

Whether you’re dreaming of a violin serenade as you walk down the aisle or a relaxed outdoor drinks reception with music and laughter, your dog can play a special role in the day. Depending on their temperament, consider:

  • 🐾 Ring Bearer: If your dog is confident and calm, they can walk down the aisle with the rings.

  • 🌸 Flower Pup: Replace the traditional flower girl with a pup in a floral wreath or bowtie.

  • 💌 VIP Guest: If your pup is more of a background observer, they can still join for cuddles and candid moments.

When I’m performing at venues like Batch Country House, Pennard House, Elmhay Park, or The Greenway Hotel & Spa, I often see couples light up when their pup trots down the aisle. It’s emotional, endearing—and always a hit with the guests!

2. Consider a Pet Chaperone

Let’s be honest—your wedding day is a whirlwind. That’s why I always recommend hiring a professional pet chaperone service. While I focus on creating the perfect musical atmosphere, a dedicated pet carer ensures your pup is calm, fed, hydrated, and in the right place at the right time.

A great pet chaperone can:

  • Accompany your dog to and from the venue

  • Help them walk down the aisle or pose for photos

  • Monitor their wellbeing and remove them if they get overwhelmed

I’ve worked alongside several of these lovely professionals in the South West, and they really do make all the difference.

3. Plan Ahead for Comfort and Safety

Before including your dog, check:

  • 🏡 Is your venue pet-friendly? Places like Pennard House or Elmhay Park often welcome furry guests.

  • 💐 Can they handle the crowd? Do a trial run to see how they respond to big groups and noise.

  • 💤 Do they have a quiet space? Just like people, pups need a break too.

And if you're hiring me for live music at your wedding, I can always tailor the vibe—acoustic violin works beautifully for a calm, elegant atmosphere that keeps everyone (including the dog!) relaxed.

4. Capture the Moments

Some of the most heartwarming images from the weddings I perform at involve dogs. Whether it’s a candid nuzzle during vows or a post-ceremony snuggle on the lawn, your photographer will thank you for such a joyful addition.

And if Luna Moon is joining me at a venue, she’s often the one sneaking into the behind-the-scenes shots—calmly enjoying the music and admiring the flowers.

Not Every Dog Loves a Party (And That’s Okay!)

If your dog is more of a homebody or your venue doesn’t allow pets, there are still lovely ways to honour them:

  • Include them in your stationery or table names

  • Commission a custom cake topper

  • Wear a locket with their photo

  • Name your signature cocktail after them!

Final Thoughts

In my years as a violinist for luxury weddings across the South West of the UK, I’ve seen first-hand how meaningful it is to include the whole family—fur babies included. With the right support and planning, your dog can be part of a celebration filled with romance, music, and unforgettable memories.

And who knows? Maybe Luna Moon and I will see you there.

Would you like to chat about a violin performance for your dog-friendly wedding? I’d love to hear your plans and help bring them to life with music that’s as beautiful and unique as your celebration.
